Warrenpoint Silver Band are in the midst of a very busy festive programme with a list of eight engagements to fulfil starting last week with the” switch on” in Banbridge. The venue was Warrenpoint Square on Saturday last when they were on stage entertaining those waiting for the arrival of Santa at the Warrenpoint switch on. Next day they were in the warmth of the Non Subscribing Preabyterian Church where they led the praise at the Annual Hospice carol service before rounding off the entertainment at the Christmas Fayre in Warrenpoint Park.
Perhaps the highlight of the programme is the event on Thursday 8 December when they play at the Charity concert in the Warrenpoint Town Hall. The concert is in aid of the Thando Charity for children and orphans in South Africa. Also appearing at the concert, which begins at 7.30 pm, are the Cloghmore Male Voice Choir with Nikolay and Veselka Ivanov.
The busy Christmas season continues with more carols at two venues, the Presbyterian Church community carols event on Saturday afternoon 17th December and the next evening at the Kilbroney Parish carol service in Rostrevor.
Finally after a hectic round of appearances the band will play a concert in the Quays Shopping Centre , Newry on Tuesday 20 December at 7.30pm.
